Injection lipolysis – colloquially known as a “fat-away injection” – is a proven method for the targeted treatment of small, diet-resistant fat deposits. In my practice in Frankfurt, this minimally invasive method is used where local fat pads are bothersome and a more harmonious contour is desired – without surgery.
What is Injection Lipolysis and how Does it Work?
During lipolysis, a special active ingredient – usually deoxycholic acid – is injected into the corresponding area. This substance causes the treated fat cells to dissolve and then be broken down via the body’s own metabolism. The skin remains intact, and additional tightening through the body’s own reaction is possible.
Application Areas of Lipolysis Treatment
The method is particularly suitable for small to medium-sized fat deposits, e.g. in the area of:
- Double chin
- Cheeks (“hamster cheeks”)
- Neck & nape
- Upper arms
- Belly & flanks
- Inner thighs
- Knee area
Procedure of the Treatment in My Practice in Frankfurt
After a detailed anamnesis and consultation, the corresponding area is photographically documented and disinfected. The injection is performed with a very fine needle. The treatment usually lasts about 30 to 45 minutes. In the first few days, there may be slight swelling or a feeling of warmth in the treated area – signs of the beginning of fat cell dissolution.
After Lipolysis – What should be Considered?
- Drink enough water to support fat reduction
- Avoid intense physical exertion and direct sun exposure in the first few days
- Slight swelling, tenderness or redness are possible, but usually subside quickly
How many Sessions are Necessary?
Depending on the initial findings and treatment goal, two to four sessions at intervals of approximately six weeks are generally recommended. The final result develops over a period of several weeks to a few months.
Combinable Procedures for Optimized Results
In many cases, injection lipolysis can be combined with other non-invasive procedures
e.g.:
- Radiofrequency therapy for additional skin tightening
- PRF or microneedling for skin regeneration
- Mesotherapy to improve skin structure
